Do you prefer a sunrise or a sunset? (among other ponderables)

Myself, I prefer the latter, b/c a sunset holds much more mystery and possibility than a sunrise. Let me explain.

Sunsets and sunrises can both be stunning visually. When the sunrise is over, everything is bathed in the full light of the day, and the reality of that existence takes hold. Things are what they are, and it's hard to argue with what lies in plain sight.

After sunset, there is an aura of adventure, of mystery, of not knowing what is beyond the next corner, or even behind the fold of the next shadow. Familiar sights can be seen differently, or can sometimes be almost unrecognizable. Your personality and your mind are more vivid and sharper b/c they have to do more of the work in shaping the world around you, the kind of work they're relieved of when everything is brightly lit. That kind of energy and wonder makes me feel much more alive. And plus, given my impish nature, the night is just much more well suited to mischief...

Thoughts?

And once you've finished that essay question, try these.

If you could go back in time to one 24 hour period (personal or historical), and could watch and participate w/o fear of altering anything, which would you choose?

And if you could have a do-over at any point in your life, what would it be? (And please don't give the standard boiler-plate crap about how you wouldn't change a thing b/c everything in life happens for a reason. That's WAY too easy...)

Happy musings...
